I have spent most of the day putting in a comma, and the rest of the day taking it out.
— Oscar Wilde

I relate wholeheartedly to that quote above because I really believe that every little detail in writing matters. The smallest comma or the 'not-quite-right' word can change the meaning of what you're trying to say.  It can also irk a potential editor. at your favorite publishing house! For that reason, I am thorough in critiquing my own work and the work of others.  If you'd like someone to go through your manuscript and find those little things that make that difference and the big things that matter even more, I’ll give you a fair, encouraging and complete assessment with valuable feedback. Contact me to discuss your project.

RATES AND SERVICES

Picture Books and Short Stories (up to 1000 words)

Copy editing (punctuation, grammar, and spelling only): $75-125

Developmental, line and copy editing (punctuation, grammar, spelling + sentence structure, wording, "big-picture” issues, etc.): $250-350

Proofreading (a final read to catch any spelling or punctuation errors after other changes are done): $50

Novels and Non-fiction (You may send the whole manuscript or just a portion)

I’ve struggled for years to find a rate that’s reasonable and fair to both editor and author, and I’ve come to the conclusion that every writer has different needs for their manuscript and there isn’t a “one price fits all” rate. What I’m most comfortable with, and what I find most authors appreciate most, is if I take a quick look at a sample of your work and come up with something reasonable based on what you want and what I think your story would benefit from. Generally speaking, I will charge between 1.5 and 2.5 cents per word for either a developmental edit or a line/copy edit (minimum $350)
